1% Smarter #4 – What is your life metaphor?

January 13, 2019 By theavidbookreader Leave a Comment

Some people view life as a race. The fastest win.

Some people view life as a marathon. The most persistent win.

Some people view life as a butterfly. You undergo some changes before you metamorphosize into something beautiful.

Some people view life as a story or a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Some people view life as a rollercoaster. Full of ups and downs.

Some people view life as a juggling act. It is all about balance and making sure you don’t let a ball drop.

And some people view life as a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.

A journey of discovery

I personally have always been one of those people who views life as a journey of discovery.

Can you remember back when you were a child?

The world was such a huge place filled endless things to explore and innumerable adventures to be had.

I can vividly remember being struck with awe and wonder.

Filled with excitement, imagination…and endless possibilities.

But then reality strikes. You grow up and have to get a job and seemingly have to settle.

Enter books. Thank God for books.

It showed me that it is possible to dream again. An inexhaustible sea of information at your fingertips, cataloging the entire human body of knowledge and immortalizing the deeds of men in the annals of history. Forever etched in ink.

Now you realize it is possible to explore the world and all its history, knowledge and splendor.

I was hooked.

Like a firefly drawn to fire.

So I flew right in.

What is your life metaphor?

Spread the love of learning!
